About this role

The successful candidate will report to Supervisor Aviation Security and handle core aviation security duties. Responsibilities include granting access to authorized persons entering restricted areas and facilitating luggage and people into screening points. Ensure flow control in the prescribed manner while detecting threat items.

Screen all luggage, carry-on items, and persons to identify threats, including physical screening on identified baggage. Perform profiling of bags and persons, incorporating random screening. Maintain mandatory reporting of all incidents throughout operations.

Operate according to ICAO, NKP, SACAA legislation, and ACSA policies and procedures. Build and maintain sound internal and external stakeholder relations, balancing enforcement with professionalism. Respond to all emergencies in the prescribed manner.

Shortlisted candidates provide proof of qualifications and must be eligible for Top Security Clearance within 3 months of appointment. Positions filled in line with Airports Company South Africa values and Employment Equity Policy and Plan.

Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate/Grade 12
  • Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) registration
  • MS Office proficiency on a basic level
  • South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Basic Aviation Security (AVSEC) Certification (advantageous)
  • Relevant National Diploma/Degree (NQF 6) in Security/Law/Risk/Compliance (recommended)
  • Report Writing (Basic)
  • English Fluency
  • Attention to Detail

Responsibilities

  • Screen all persons to detect threat items and ensure flow control
  • Perform physical screening on all identified baggage
  • Perform profiling of both bag and person, including random screening
  • Report all incidents mandatorily
  • Respond to all emergencies in the prescribed manner
